Obama jokes that his bowling is ‘like Special Olympics’

During his visit to “The Tonight Show,” Thursday, President Obama attempted a joke on himself that appeared to make fun of people with disabilities.

Obama told host Jay Leno that his bowling score, with practice, had risen to 129.

“That’s very good, Mr. President,” Leno deadpanned.

It’s “like the Special Olympics or something,” the president replied.

A White House spokesman said the remark was not intended to disparage Special Olympics athletes, who have intellectual disabilities.

The president “thinks the special Olympics is a wonderful program that gives an opportunity for people with disabilities from around the world,” said White House deputy press secretary Bill Burton.

Some people need to get a sense of humor and not make such a big deal out of every thing people say. I watched Jay Leno and I wasn’t at all offended by the joke. If any thought the joke was offensive, than they should also be offended by Leno’s snickering about a 129.

this is a quote from obama from the official white house website. he says build a world free of stuff like comments like he made? my youngest son has Autism, and I was VERY offended by what he said, and then the white house has to tell him to call the sp. olympics? and he offers to invite some of these kids to visit him, ya right. insult somebody then invite them over to bowl? let me insult his intelligence then invite him over to my house…so i can insult him some more? can we as americans not revolt and get this guy outta office? i didnt vote for him and am ashamed that people did vote for this antichrist! and he even wanted to make our vets with health ins. pay their bills instead of the VA! and its only been weeks since he was in office. what will happen to this country by the end of the 4 years? i gotta say, i’m really thinkin of moving out of the country.

So far, this has been the second discriminative, mean comment he has made…..First about Jessica Simpson’s weight and now about bowling terrible like he was in the Special Olympics.

Liberals can say or do anything without repercussions. Hmmm…..
