As predicted last week, McCain worked some autism into his speech tonight.
“I fight for Jake and Toni Wimmer of Franklin County, Pennsylvania. Jake works on a loading dock, coaches Little League, and raises money for the mentally and physically disabled. Toni is a schoolteacher, working toward her master’s degree. They have two sons; the youngest, Luke, has been diagnosed with autism. Their lives should matter to the people they elect to office. They matter to me. And they matter to you.”

I have relaunched the Autism Retort website in the ALLTOP/POPURLS format. Check it out here, it’s a work in progress, but check it out and please bookmark if you find it useful. I may try to organize the sites in some groupings or at least organize them via the SIDE BAR MENU. The site includes blogs on both sides of the Autism Vaccine Wars as well as other hot button autism issues of the day. I am creating the site as much for myself as anything. As I mentioned with the Clintons talking about autism in their convention speeches, I will take it anyway I can get it. Republican VP nominee, Sarah Palin, who has a new baby with Downs Syndrome, also discussed special needs in her acceptance speech last night.
