Is there more autism in first generation US born Somali children in Minneapolis?  If this turns out to be true, it would seem to have some serious implications and research opportunities on the cause of some autism cases.

There’s a new obsession in our house, The Wonder Pets.  If you thought kids with autism love Thomas the Tank Engine, you should see The Wonder Pets!  The basic theme of the series is teamwork.  Individually, we might not be able to accomplish something, be the strongest, or smartest; but when we work as a team, anything is possible.

I realize that Mr. Savage’s job is to shock, but hurtful comments like these are just over the line. How about the 1/4 of kids with autism who have seizures too, can I stop those with some more discipline, Mr. Savage?

Summary: On his nationally syndicated radio show, Michael Savage claimed that autism is “[a] fraud, a racket. … I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That’s what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they’re silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, ‘Don’t act like a moron. You’ll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.’ “
